East Windsor to Sponsor New Year’s Food Drive

Food may be dropped off at the East Windsor Municipal Building, Police Building, and East Windsor Rescue Squad District 2 until Jan. 31

Beginning Jan. 1, East Windsor Township will sponsor its month-long “New Year’s Food Drive,” aimed at helping local individuals and families in need, according to a news release from the township. The township will accept non-perishable food items through the end of the month at the East Windsor Township Municipal Building during regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and anytime at the East Windsor Police Department or at the East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 2.  “As the holiday season and its special focus on good deeds passes, we want to remind everyone that the need for assistance to people in our area continues, and call upon our community’s proven spirit of generosity,” said East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov. “As we …

County Library System Holds Drive to Replenish Local Food Banks

Donations may be brought to the Hightstown and Hickory Corner Library branches, among others

Editor's Note: The following is a news release issued by the Mercer County administration. The Mercer County Library System is holding a special food drive during November and December to help replenish local food banks depleted in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. To date the response has been so strong, with donations arriving from as far west as Ohio and as far south as Virginia, that the library has had to make weekly deliveries of donations to local service organizations, rather than simply deliver the donations at the end of the collection period. On Nov. 15, a delivery van full of donations — food, clothing, toys, books and a $1,100 monetary donation — arrived from Ohio at the Ewing Branch. Unloading of the donations took staff …

East Windsor Food Drive Has Two Weeks Remaining

Non-perishable food will be collected through Jan. 31.

There is two weeks left for East Windsor Township's New Year's Food Drive. Non-perishable food will be collected through Jan. 31 and donated to RISE food pantry and the Green House Food Pantry. "As the holiday season and its special focus on good deeds passes, we want to remind everyone that the need for assistance to people in our area continues, and call upon our community’s proven spirit of generosity," Mayor Janice Mironov said in a news release. Donations can be dropped off at the East Windsor Municipal Building during business hours, or at the police department and East Windsor Rescue Squad #2 at any time. "Typically, we understand that donations drop off after the holidays, and we hope that this special effort will help feed area …

This used to be a joint effort between the mayors of East Windsor and Hightstown... what happened? I know borough hall is out of order, but it would be nice to see the borough participate in the food drive using other drop-off sites.   more ›

Rise to the Challenge: Day Two

East Windsor Patch, Rise and ShopRite are teaming up to collect food in support of Rise. We need your help.

After day one of the food drive during the October snowstorm, we collected serveral bags of food and $601 for the Rise food pantry. This will help feed many families during the holidays, and we are hoping tomorrow will be even better. We need your help to fill the truck. Stop by ShopRite in East Windsor between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to support the drive, and help us, help Rise.  Rise: A Community Partnership goes above and beyond in helping the Hightstown and East Windsor community, by feeding and clothing the hungry and offering other services to those in need. The following items are needed: Monetary donations will also be accepted. All proceeds and donations will benefit Rise. Stop by and help. Your neighbors will thank you.

Time to Rise to the Challenge

East Windsor Patch, Rise and ShopRite are partnering to collect food for Rise. Stop by and help.

OK, East Windsor and Hightstown, it's time to help Patch and Rise stuff the truck. Rise: A Community Partnership goes above and beyond in helping the Hightstown and East Windsor community, by feeding and clothing the hungry and offering other services to those in need. This is why we are joining Rise to raise awareness of the causes of poverty and the impact it has on the community. Representatives from Patch and Rise will be at ShopRite of East Windsor on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with an empty truck donated to the cause by ShopRite.
