Bright Future For HHS Softball Squad

First year coach Kristen DeLaRosa is laying the groundwork for a strong team in the future.

Rams Varsity Softball Coach Kristen DeLaRosa likes what she sees on the diamond, a good sign for a first-year coach looking to put her stamp on a team. "I've seen them come togther and play some really big games, and the teams we have left are good match ups for us. The rest of the games will be exciting for us to be a part of and to play in," said DeLaRosa. Fortunately, DeLaRosa's inaugural season has been made a little easier than it might of been thanks to group of players whose closeness makes even the hard days seem a little easier. “They are so close to each other and it’s hard for me to come in as a new coach, so it was good to see that they were already a family,” said DeLaRosa. “They already had this great relationship. Hightstown HS Graduation Rates, Academics Lagging

This is the first year of a new evaluation system put in place by the New Jersey Department of Education.

The New Jersey Department of Education’s new evaluation system has assessed Hightstown High School as lagging in a number of significant areas, but received average or high marks in others. This new assessment presents a larger array of new data so that schools can better understand their overall performance. The data is aimed at helping schools improve in order to help students graduate high school better prepared for college and a career, according to New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf. Academically, Hightstown High School performed average when compared to other schools across the state, but was lagging in comparison to other schools in its peer group, or other high schools with similar demographics. Former Hightstown HS Counselor Dies at 65

Joseph Garrison lived in East Windsor for most of his life.

Joseph A. Garrison, 65, of East Windsor, passed away Saturday, April 13, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Trenton, Joe was an East Windsor resident for most of his life. He was a teacher at St. Anthony's High School and a guidance counselor at Northern Burlington County Regional High School and Hightstown High School. Joe was predeceased by his father, Wellington (Gary) Garrison. Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Helene Dzurisin (Garrison) of 16 years; his mother, Wray D'Ambrosio Garrison; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Sean Redman of Ashburn, VA; son, Andrew Dzurisin of East Windsor, and grandchildren, Gabriel and Mira Redman of Ashburn, VA.
