Hightstown Resident Isabella Austell Dies at 94

Austell worked for Sunnyfield Nursing Home for many years.

Isabella U. Austell, 94, of Hightstown, N.J., passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University at Hamilton. Isabella Urselina March Austell was born Jan. 13, 1919, in St. Catherine, Jamaica, to the now late John and Mabel (Bernard) March. In 1957, Isabella relocated to Manchester, England, where she worked as a seamstress and later lived in London, England, before moving to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she lived for many years. Isabella met David Austell at a wedding in Trenton, N.J. and sometime later they were united in marriage, finally making Hightstown her home. Isabella was a dedicated and loving wife. She was a caring and nurturing person who developed loving and lifelong friendships. For many years she was employed …

Hightstown Obituary: Florine Hunt, 84

Hunt lived at Meadow Lakes for almost four years.

Florine E. Hunt, 84, of Meadow Lakes in Hightstown died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at her residence. Born in Richmond, Virginia, she was a resident of Trenton for many years prior to moving to Meadow Lakes in 2009. Florine retired after 33 years of service with Public Service Electric and Gas in Newark where she was the Manager of Library and Information Resources. She was a dedicated member of Trinity Cathedral in Trenton. Daughter of the late A. Carl and Elva Blacklidge Hunt, she is survived by; many nieces; nephews and friends. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. at Meadow Lakes, 300 Etra Road, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Hightstown Resident of 88 Years Dies at 96

Ruth Perrine Birdsall was born and raised in Hightstown.

Ruth Perrine Birdsall, 96, of Monroe Township passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 after a long and full life. Born and raised in Hightstown, N.J., Ruth lived there for 88 years before moving to Monroe Township in 2005. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hightstown for 69 years. She was active in many church groups including the Live Wire Society and Golden Band Club. In her younger years, she was known for making gallons of homemade clam chowder for the annual First Baptist Church Christmas Bazaar. She was also a member of the Hightstown Lioness Club, the Hightstown Republican Club and the Friday Club. Hightstown Obituary: Theresa Elaine Brown Martin, 70

Martin was a lifetime member of St. James A.M.E. Church.

Theresa Elaine Brown Martin entered this life on July 13, 1942, at Mercer Hospital, in Trenton, N.J., and departed this life on Jan. 22, 2013. Her parents were Alice Betty Lee Chambers Brown and Walter Franklin Brown. She was a graduate of Hightstown High School, received her Bachelor of Science degree in business education from Wilberforce University and her master's degree in business education from Rider University. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She participated in the Civil Rights March from Selma to Montgomery. For 28 years, she was a business teacher at Hightstown High School and retired as program coordinator in 2006. Elaine was a lifetime member of St. James A.M.E.
