Cranbury Township Man, 27, Dies At I-195 Accident Scene After Being Ejected

Driver apparently lost control traveling eastbound, ended up in westbound lanes, police said.

A 27-year-old Cranbury Township man died from injuries he suffered after being ejected from his motor vehicle in a 10:48 a.m. accident on I-195 at the Jackson/Howell Township border today. Carl Henninger was traveling eastbound in a Chevy Lumina when he apparently lost control, ran off the left side of the center median and struck another vehicle on the westbound side, State Police Spokesman Sgt. Adam Grossman said. Henninger was pronounced deceased at the scene, said Grossman. The driver of the vehicle struck by Henninger, Jennifer, Balka, 22, of Wall Township, was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with minor injuries, police said. DOT Reopens All Lanes of I-195 Overpass

The overpass was reduced to one lane westbound on Oct. 3 following a fatal accident and worries there might be structural damage. Tests show the overpass is safe, officials say.

  Both westbound lanes of the I-195 overpass across the NJ Turnpike in Robbinsville will be reopened by Wednesday morning, New Jersey DOT Commissioner James Simpson announced on Tuesday. This restores all four travel lanes on the overpass, two in each direction. The lanes will remain open until traffic can be shifted to a new overpass, which is expected to be complete in about two months. The DOT closed the outer westbound travel lane on the overpass two weeks ago after a truck traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike crashed and burned directly under the overpass. Officials reported on Tuesday that sophisticated load testing of the beams that support the overpass showed it is safe for vehicles on all lanes. A new I-195 overpass is being built…
