UPDATED: Drop Off Unused Medication in East Windsor and Hightstown

Bring your unused medication to the East Windsor Police Department or Hightstown Police Department during Operation Take Back New Jersey, Today.

East Windsor Township and the Borough of Hightstown are both participating in Operation Take Back this weekend. Residents are encouraged to stop by the East Windsor Police Department and the Hightstown Police Department on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and safely drop off their unused or expired prescription medications. Operation Take Back is a program sponsored by the New Jersey Office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) offering residents the opportunity to dispose of all unused, unwanted and expired medications in a safe and secure manner. East Windsor Township will have a drop box in the East Windsor Police Department for the collection of these various medications. Collected medications will be turned over …

Condo Fire Ignited from Incendiary Items Near Water Heater

A police investigation revealed that combustible items near a water heater started the fire at an East Windsor condo Wednesday.

A fire that devastated an East Windsor condo on Wednesday, April 24 was found to have originated in the outside utility closet on the rear patio of the residence, police reported Thursday. This closet contained the hot water heater and the furnace. A fire ignited when combustible items caught fire after coming into contact with the water heater. According to police, the items were stored too closely to the water heater. The investigation into this fire has been concluded, East Windsor police said.

Bicycles Stolen from Hightstown Front Yard

The following report is based on information released by Hightstown Borough police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. ------------------------------- On April 13 at 2:18 a.m. on Mercer Street, officers arrested William Graham, a 51 year-old man of Etra Road, Hightstown, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. While on patrol, officers observed the subject drive over the double center line on several occasions and effectuated a motor vehicle stop for the infraction. Upon stopping the subject, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and had the driver perform field sobriety tests.  The subject failed the tests and …

East Windsor Man Among 26 Arrested in Heroin Bust

State police arrested 26 people, including an East Windsor resident; $250,000 worth of heroin was seized.

A New Jersey State Police-organized sweep on Tuesday morning netted more than $250,000 in heroin, 26 arrests, and $150,000 in cash in a bust that police say broke up a major heroin distribution ring that reached into six counties. Operations focused on the workings of two Piscataway men, focused on the alleged drug distribution operation of Derek Fuqua, 35, and Kevin Harrell, 34, who are believed to have used a large network of family and friends to distribute heroin in Middlesex, Mercer, Monmouth, Union, Somerset and Hudson counties, according to a press release from State Police. East Windsor Man Charged with Aggravated Assault of Police Officer

William Castro-Plaza allegedly fled from an East Windsor police officer and then assaulted him while trying to get away.

A 30-year-old East Windsor man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a police officer on Thursday, April 11. Ptl. Robert Davison was approaching a suspicious vehicle parked on the corner of Westfield Road and Winchester Drive when he saw the passenger, identified as William Castro-Plaza, swiftly exit the car flee on foot. While running, Castro-Plaza threw a bag into a bush which police later learned contained beer bottles. Davison pursued Castro-Plaza and caught him at the front door of his home on Winchester Drive, but Castro-Plaza was able to force his way into his home while the officer held him. Castro-Plaza then repeatedly slammed the front door onto Davison’s arm and he was forced to release his grip, according to …

Man Killed in Windsor Castle Stabbing

Christian Lemus-Estrada has been arrested and charged with homicide and weapons offenses.

A man was killed Friday night after being stabbed in the torso with a kitchen knife inside of a Windsor Castle apartment in East Windsor, according to police. Christian Lemus-Estrada, 18, allegedly stabbed Carlos Rafael Tinizhanay-Arias, 28, at around 11:40 p.m. on Friday, April 19. Tinizhanay-Arias was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton Hospital for treatment and was pronounced dead at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, East Windsor police said. The apartment where the stabbing took place was rented by an acquaintance of both Tinizhanay-Arias and Lemus-Estrada. Commercial Burglary Spree Includes East Windsor Business, 4 Suspects in Custody

Corner Copia in East Windsor was one of many commercial burglaries involving four individuals, according to New Jersey State Police.

Two suspects were charged on Wednesday in connection with the burglary of Corner Copia Garden Center, the East Windsor Township Police Department announced. A police investigation of the April 4 burglary, where $300 in cash was stolen from the register, involved other law enforcement agencies who helped identify the suspects. Francisco Chadwick, 25, of New Egypt, and Heather Yesuvida, 24, of Cream Ridge, were both charged with burglary and theft. According to New Jersey State Police, Chadwick and Yesuvida were two of four individuals involved in a commercial burglary ring that police believe are responsible for over twenty burglaries. Chadwick was already in police custody at the Ocean County Jail serving a drug court violation and he was …

Hightstown Woman Arrested on DWI, Narcotic Possession Charges

The woman reportedly failed field sobriety tests.

A Hightstown woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated in the early morning hours of April 6. According to Hightstown police, Aimee Millar, 29, was pulled over for driving 40 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone on Stockton Street. Millar, a resident of Park Avenue, exhibited signs of intoxication, according to police. Police conducted field sobriety tests on Millar, which she failed, police said. Millar was arrested and found to be in possession of various prescription narcotics. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, speeding, reckless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of a …

East Windsor Gardening Center Burglarized

Corner Copia reported a break-in and burglary to police.

Corner Copia, an East Windsor nursery and garden center, reported a burglary during the overnight hours between Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4. According to East Windsor police, $300 in cash was taken from the register. Entry into the establishment was made through a broken window, police said. This incident is currently under investigation. If anyone has any information on the burglary, please contact the East Windsor Police Department.

Hightstown Residents Turn Themselves In to Police

Two residents turned themselves in on active warrants; a Trenton woman was issued a warrant and and an East Windsor man was arrested on an active warrant.

The following report is based on information released by Hightstown Borough police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. -------------------------------- On April 3 at 3:38 p.m. Joseph Pennisi, 25, of Grape Run Road in Hightstown, came to police headquarters to turn himself in on an active warrant issued for his arrest.  Pennisi had a warrant issued by New Hanover Municipal Court in the amount of $114 for an unpaid traffic summons. Pennisi posted bail and was later released. -------------------------------- On April 4 at 4:54 p.m. Jeremy Cokeley a 24, of Franklin Street, Hightstown,  came to police headquarters to turn himself in on an active warrant issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court.
