Tips for Winter Skin Protection

Five easy ways to keep skin happy in the cold.

Winter not only brings harsher weather with winds and cold temperatures, but the lack of moisture tends to make these months much more unforgiving on our skin than the summer months.  This lack of moisture causes skin to dry out and can lead to itchiness, redness and cracking.  Yolanda Russo, owner and esthetician at Speranzi Spa in Bloomfield, offers five preventative measures you can take to be sure your skin continues to glow even through the winter.    1. Moisturize.  You should moisturize your face twice daily after cleansing.  During the colder months, you may have to switch to a richer moisturizer, since skin tends to be much drier.  The best moisturizers absorb quickly and do not leave a residue.
