East Windsor Township To Celebrate Communities of Light Day

East Windsor Township and Womanspace team up to raise money for domestic violence awareness on Dec. 10

Womanspace and East Windsor Township are teaming up once again to commemorate Communities of Light Day, which is aimed at raising money for domestic violence awareness and victim services. East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov presented a proclamation during Monday night’s township council meeting to Womanspace Executive Director Patricia Hart and Rita Teubner, charter member of the East Windsor Township Domestic Violence Victims Response Team. The proclamation declares December 10, 2012 as Communities of Light Day. “Communities of Light is an opportunity for us to shine a light, literally and figuratively, on an issue that is all too quiet sometimes,” Hart said. Communities of Light Raising Money for Domestic Violence Awareness

Womanspace is holding the event Dec. 12 at the East Windsor Municipal Buildling.

Womanspace and East Windsor Township are holding Communities of Light, aimed to raise money for domestic violence awareness and victim services, according to a news release. The event will light up the area outside the Municipal Building. Participants can purchase luminary kits, which include six candles, for $10 at PNC Bank, Gold’s Gym and Fulton Bank, the release said. “The lighting of luminaries is a unique means of increasing local awareness of the ongoing presence of domestic violence in all of our communities and to serve as a symbol of hope for all those who struggle with violence in their homes,” said Mayor Janice Mironov.
