New Firefighters Join Cranbury and East Windsor Fire Companies

The Cranbury Fire Company has two new members and the East Windsor FIre Company #2 has one.

The Monmouth County Fire Academy graduated three men who will join local fire departments along with 57 other firefighters from Monmouth, Mercer, and Ocean counties. Jason Fazzaro and James Taylor will join the Cranbury Township Volunteer Fire Company and Samuel Gomez, Jr. will join East Windsor Township Fire Department #2. Graduates worked 188 hours over 30 sessions and received training in rescue, fire extinguishment, hazardous materials response, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, electrical safety, and care of hoses, ladders and other equipment.  The new firefighters were divided into two classes: Class 96 graduated Jan. 22 and Class 97 graduated Jan. 23. Cranbury Police Seeking Witnesses in Crash that Killed Monroe Man

Cops say the driver hit a car, crashed into a tree and overturned.

A 22-year-old Monroe Township man died Friday, a day after his car hit another vehicle and crashed into a tree on Route 130 in Cranbury, and investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward, police said. Arthur Corniola, of Monroe Township, was driving north on Route 130 near Station Road around 7:20 p.m. Thursday when he hit the back of another vehicle that was just starting to accelerate from being stopped at a red light, Cranbury Police Chief Rickey Varga said. Corniola’s black 2003 Mercury Sable continued off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, coming to a rest on the driver’s side. Cranbury Fire Company cut Corniola out of the car, and Cranbury First Aid Squad transported him to Robert Wood …
